After breakfast, meet up with our guide and start the tour. Our first stop is the traditional Balinese village of Penglipuran, 700 m above sea level. It is best known for its well-preserved traditional culture and village design. While most of its residents have embraced modernity, its individual compounds are well-kept, with manicured gardens lining its single linear stone-paved street that runs through the center of the village to the village temple, and ancient arched entrance gates and walls. that conceal the houses inside. Then, we will proceed to Besakih Temple, known as the “Mother Temple of Besakih.” Facing Mount Agung’s highest peak and located at an altitude of 900 meters, this grand temple complex has been a sacred site since ancient times. The name Besakih is derived from “Basuki,” which means Salvation in classical Sanskrit. According to Samudramanthana mythology, “Besuki” refers to the Dragon-God Naga Besukian, who is believed to inhabit Mount Agung. The first recorded mention of Besakih Temple dates back to 1007 AD, and since the 15th century, it has been regarded as the central temple of Hinduism in Bali.

Lunch will be served at a local restaurant with a beautiful view of the hills of Bukit Jambul. After lunch, we will visit the incredible painted ceilings of the ancient Klungkung courthouse, It was built in 1710 in eastern Bali for the Dewa Agung dynasty, was used until the early 20th century, when much of it was destroyed in an attack by the Dutch. Within the palace, the Kerta Gosa pavilion initially served as the royal court, and its ceiling is richly painted in traditional Balinese style with Hindu icons. Kerta Gosa’s ceiling underwent restoration and rebuilding in the mid-20th century. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon.

It was built in 1634 by the king of Mengwi, is bordered by wide canals and can only be accessed via a bridge leading to a richly ornamented gate that gives access to the outer courtyard of the temple. It has a beautiful temple building with a multi-story roof and Balinese architecture. There is a large and beautifully landscaped garden in the front courtyard to welcome all visitors. This temple boasts a sophisticated architectural design and has been declared a UNESCO world cultural tourism site.

Our final stop for the day is the iconic Tanah Lot Temple, perched on a small island in the sea. As one of the seven “sea temples” (pura segara) built along the southwest coast of Bali, it offers a stunning location to witness an incredible sunset. According to local legend, the temple was built in the 16th century when a Javanese priest, captivated by the beauty of the place, decided to sleep there. Before leaving, he instructed local fishermen to build a temple dedicated to the gods of the sea. Return to the hotel for overnight.
